WMS-Interconnect Williams Sys 3-7 Interconnect Kit
Williams Sys 3-7 Interconnect Kit Example of installed pins through receiver
Williams games are all over 30 years old, and replacing this interconnect section will solve a lot of lock up, boot up and intermittent problems you may be having with your game. If you've ever reseated this connector and it "fixed" it, that's a red flag it's time to replace. Over time, this connector simply gets unreliable with age, dirt, dust and corrosion. The battery holder is located immediately above it too, making it a target for damage due to leaking batteries. Included in this kit are four 10 pin .156" male Molex connector pin sections and four 10 pin female bottom entry connectors. Important NOTICE! There have been some people stating these are too short.

Technical notes: There are some people that think the headers I supply are too short, and they also need to be round. The Molex data sheet calls for the header to have a minimum pin insertion depth of 0.450, and these "technically" are 95% of that, however if you look at the 2nd picture in this listing, they do make a 100% connection going through the receiver. Going through more than needed does not make a better connection. The assumption could be because of the thickness of the PCB not being taken in to account. PinWiki states incorrectly that they need to be 16mm, which is what Williams originally used, but as we all know, they used what they had. Williams also used round header pins, and some people think that is also required, but for a fact Molex recommends a flat edge header for these kinds of receivers.
Non-Technical fact: I have sold this kit for over 17 years, over 1000 kits sold, and 1000+ games fixed.

Electrolytics dry out over time and are commonly known to have a 20 year life, these games are all now over 30 years old. Values used on factory boards varied and may be different, higher voltage tolerances are an improvement.

Type 2 Sound only. Boards are marked 1C-2001-146-3, 1C-2001-146-5 or 1C-2001-146-6 on the board lower right corner. Stamped or a sticker sometimes with D-8223, D-8224. Includes:
Note 1: Schematics call for 800uf/16V or 1000uf/15V, sub is fine

Note 2: All later boards examined show this elevated off the board, probably due to heat generated by the 5 Volt regulator. Also note + mark on cap provided as it's at the opposite beveled end than others

Note 3: Schematics call for 12,000uf/25V but only -3 versions examined have it, all other boards examined have 4,700. Please order the cap below to upgrade from 4,700 to 12,000.

General notes: Various jumper settings are noted on the schematics but most appear to be directed at Type 1 games. The exception is W2-W4 for ROM size (work in progress as I understand). Switch DS1 position 1 selects SOUNDS/NOTES, position 2 selects SPEECH/NO SPEECH and indicates jumpers W9/W4, no idea what this means but examining many boards, all except one have W9 jumpered and no W4 jumper, with one exception that has the opposite and does not have the header for speech.
Barracora, Cosmic Gunfight, Defender, Firepower II, Hyperball, Joust, Laser Cue, Solar Fire, Star Light, Time Fantasy, Varkon, Warlok as well as various video games and shuffle puck games. Alien Poker, Black Knight, Blackout, Firepower, Gorgar, Jungle Lord, Pharaoh, and rare Thunderball. Also used in Defender and Robotron video games, possibly others.
